Aprilia’s official distributor in Malaysia, Naza Premira, will start assembling the Shiver 750 motorcycle, early next year. While the Shiver 750 has been on sale in Malaysia for a while now, the locally assembled CKD model will retail at MYR 44,000 (Rs 7.93 lakh) as opposed to the completely built unit’s price of MYR 56,000 (Rs 10.09 lakh).
The Shiver 750 is most affordable motorcycle in Aprilia’s range. It is a barebones naked motorcycle which is powered by a 750cc V-twin engine. This 90 degrees unit delivers 95bhp and 81Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission and gets a ride by wire electronic throttle.
The Shiver 750 will be the only Aprilia model to be locally assembled in Malaysia, while the rest of the line-up will continue to be imported from Italy. While Aprilia’s other markets import the Shiver 750 as CBU, Malaysia has become the first country to locally assemble it. The motorcycle will be assembled at Naza’s manufacturing facility in Shah Alam.
The company has invested around MYR 50 lakh (Rs 9.01 crore) in upgrading the facility, which will have an annual capacity of 1,200 units. While the facility will supply only the Malaysian market for now, the Italian manufacturer in future might expand its capacity to cater to other ASEAN markets, including India.
