Aprilia has launched the Shiver 900 and Dorsoduro 900 in India at ₹ 11.99 lakh and ₹ 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom Pune) respectively. These are introductory prices, which will be revised after June 30 to ₹ 13,32,930 for the Shiver and ₹ 13,83,652 for the Dorsoduro.
Both these new superbikes were first unveiled at EICMA 2016. The Dorsoduro is a dual purpose motorcycle, while the new Shiver 900 is a naked roadster. Power to both the motorcycles comes from an 896cc V-twin engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. This mill churns out 95.2bhp of maximum power at 8,750rpm and 90Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm.
The new Aprilia Shiver 900 comes as a replacement to the Shiver 750 globally. Similarly, the Dorsoduro 900 has been introduced as a successor to the Dorsoduro 750. While the new Shiver 900 gets traction control as standard, the Dorsoduro 900 gets a three-way traction control. Both the motorcycles come equipped with a Bluetooth controlled infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. They sport a 41mm upside down front fork by Kayaba and a mono shock in the rear.
Both the Aprilia Shiver 900 and Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 will be imported to India as CBU units. These will be available through Piaggio Group’s Motoplexes in Pune, Chennai, Kochi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. Bookings have already begun and deliveries will happen only at the end of next month.
The Aprilia Dorsoduro brand isn’t new for the Indian market as the Dorsoduro 1200 is already on sale in India. However, the Shiver brand has been introduced in our country with the launch of this 900. Aprilia says that the bikes add to Aprilia’s racing heritage in the country. The special introductory pricing on limited units until June 30 has been put out to encourage racing enthusiasts in the country.
