Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (PVPL) is all set to launch the Aprilia SR 150 in India on August 22. Bookings have already begun through Vespa showrooms across the country and the Paytm app. The booking amount is set at Rs 2000 and if booked through the app with a code (APRILIA2K) there is a 100 per cent cash back offer.
After its announcement at the Delhi Motor Show in February, the company started the production of the Aprilia SR 150 recently at Piaggio’s Baramati plant. The scooter available in either matte black and white features many firsts for the scooter segment in India.
The Aprilia SR150 borrows the 154cc single-cylinder engine from the Vespa. The engine delivers 11.4bhp at 7,000rpm and 11.5Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. The air-cooled three-valve engine relies on a carburettor for its fuelling, and is mated to a CVT transmission. The Aprilia SR150 rides on 14-inch 10-spoke wheels shod with 120/70 profile tubeless tyres. Upfront, it gets a 220mm disc brake with Bybre calliper and a 240mm drum brake in the rear. The fuel tank can gulp down six litres of fuel.
The Aprilia SR 150 will be available through Piaggio’s dealership network in the country as well as their Motoplex outlets across Pune, Chennai, Kochi and Hyderabad. Click here to read our first ride review of the Aprilia SR 150.
