Introduction
First question you would ask after reading the title is why to compare a 150cc scooter with the 125cc ones? Well, there are two reasons. One, there’s no other 150c scooter the Aprilia SR 150 could be compared with (not considering LML 150 as it’s not sold pan India). Two, all three scooters are priced very close to each other. To know their exact pricing, you’ll have to read through this spec comparison.
Design & engine
The Aprilia SR 150 is a clear winner here. The overall body proportions of the scooter might look on the thinner side, but the fat tyres coupled with beefy exhaust gives the SR150 a very sporty look. Then there’s also the racing decals which we see on most of the Aprilia bikes. It looks absolutely stunning and is a crowd puller.
On the other hand, the new Suzuki Access 125 gets a more unisex design language, which is way better than what we saw in the old Access. The fascia is on the curvy side and the chrome around the headlamp gives the scooter a little premium feel. Out of the three, the Honda Activa 125 takes the least points in terms of design. The styling is three years old, and attracts a limited set of audience.
The Aprilia SR150 being a 150cc scooter is the most powerful at 11.5bhp. It’s the same engine from the Vespa VXL 150 but has been tuned differently. The Honda Activa 125 and the new Suzuki Access 125 both churn out 8.6bhp. The difference is that the Activa 125 produces that much power at 6500rpm, whereas the Access a bit higher at 7000rpm. All three scooters get CVT transmission.
Cycle parts
In terms of features, the Honda Activa 125 gets the most – it has a detailed instrument cluster with small LCD screen that shows the fuel level. The clock on the Access 125 and the Aprilia SR150 is on the basic side, but does the job. The Activa 125 has an advantage over other scooters when it comes to safety - it gets CBS (Combi Braking System). All the three scooters have some common features too – alloy wheels, telescopic suspension and disc brakes (optional).
Price
Now this is where things get super interesting. The Honda Activa 125 (disc brake version) is priced at Rs 60,637 (ex-showroom Delhi), whereas the Suzuki Access 125 (disc brake version) retails at Rs 56,780 (ex-showroom Delhi). Piaggio has announced that the Aprilia SR150 will be launched at an introductory price of Rs 65,000 and that’s a pretty good deal for an Italian scooter. By extending your budget by a couple of thousand rupees, you’ll be part of an Italian brand.
