- It was showcased in Goa to scrutinise dealers response
- The SR Max 300 is a touring-oriented maxi scooter
- Gets a 278cc engine that is good for 21.6bhp and 23Nm
Aprilia’s premium maxi scooter, the SR Max 300 has been spotted in Goa, India. This burly scooter has been showcased to the dealers in order to guage their response. It is still uncertain if and when the company will be bringing it to our shores.
After the Kinetic Blaze was taken off the shelves, the Suzuki Burgman Street 125 revived the maxi scooter genre in India. Suzuki has been garnering good response for the Burgman which means it is time for other manufacturers to test waters. Aprilia brought the SR150 in India and went on to become the only brand to introduce a 150cc sporty scooter and it might do something similar with the SR Max 300.
Design-wise, the SR Max 300 looks enormous with its tall windscreen and beefy front panels. It sports a sleek and long rear section which accommodates large seat in order to make it comfortable for the rider as well as the pillion which is the sole purpose of a maxi scooter. The easy-to-reach handlebar adds to the comfortable ergonomics.
It is powered by a 278cc, single-cylinder engine that churns out a healthy 21.6bhp of power and 23Nm of torque. It is suspended on telescopic forks on the front and twin hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. A 260mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc handle the braking task. The 15-litre fuel tank adds to its touring credentials.
Aprilia’s scooter portfolio consists of two models as of now – the SR125 and the SR150. Moreover, it is also gearing up to launch a family scooter, the Comfort, in India.
