Piaggio is gearing up to add another accessible product into its Aprilia line-up. The Italian maker will soon launch the SR125 in the Indian market.
The production ready models of this scooter were spied recently. Cosmetically, there are no differences between the SR125 and the SR150. The SR125 continues to get the same styling, body panels and even the decals. The only way to differentiate the SR125 from its 150cc sibling is through the different schemes (blue and grey) and the SR125 badging.
In terms of mechanicals, we’re expecting Piaggio to follow the same strategy as it did with the SR150 where it used a 150cc motor from the Vespa stable. For the SR125, it will use the 125cc motor from the Vespa SXL range. This engine produces 10.06bhp at 7500rpm and peak torque of 10.6Nm at 6000rpm. Just like the SR150, the SR125 also gets the disc brake setup at the front. However, the scooter misses out on grab handles.
While Piaggio is yet to launch the SR125 officially, few dealers have already got the scooters in their warehouse. It has been priced at Rs 65,309 (ex-showroom Pune), which makes it Rs 3837 cheaper than the SR150. The Aprilia SR125 competes with the Honda Grazia and the Suzuki Access which are priced at Rs 63,214 and Rs 59,295 (ex-showroom Pune) respectively.
