Piaggio has finally launched the Aprilia SR 150 for the Indian market today. Priced at Rs 66,000 (ex-showroom Mumbai), the SR150 is the first locally assembled Aprilia.
Positioned below the Vespa range of scooters, the Aprilia SR150 is one the best looking scooters available in the Indian market today. And with such an aggressive price tag (which is introductory), the SR150 is bound to give tough competition to 125cc scooters like the Honda Activa 125 and the new Suzuki Access 125.
The Aprilia SR150 gets its engine from the Vespa 150s. It develops 11.4bhp at 7000rpm and 11.5Nm of peak torque at 5500rpm. This mill is mated to a CVT transmission. The SR150 rides on 14-inch spoke wheels shod with 120/70 profile tubeless tyres. In terms of the braking department, the SR150 is equipped with a 220mm disc brake with bybre calliper and a 240mm drum brake in the rear. Fuel tank capacity stands at 6 litres, which will give a range of close to 240kms.
The Aprilia SR150 will be sold through all Vespa showrooms. However, this Italian brand will get a dedicated space inside the showroom. For now, the company is offering the scooter in two colour options, but we believe a third colour option would also be launched in the next couple of months.
