Piaggio India will launch a new version of the Aprilia SR150 tomorrow. The new version – the SR150 Race Edition – will sit above the current model. Production-ready SR150 Race Edition scooters were caught on camera inside their Baramati plant.
The Race Edition gets a host of aesthetic changes like a new grey paint scheme with red and green decals, a golden front brake calliper and red paint on the rear shock absorber spring. Piaggio has also equipped the SR150 Race with a rubber mat which isn’t there in the regular SR150.
It is still not sure if the company has made any changes to the 150cc engine. But during the launch of the SR150, the company officials had mentioned about a ‘peppier’ version in the making.
Piaggio will demand a few thousand rupees more for the SR150 Race edition. The SR150 has been doing well for the company, if compared with Vespa sales. The young Indian buyers have accepted this sporty scooter; however, a softer suspension setup will definitely widen its customer base.
