While Piaggio had announced that the Aprilia SR150 would be launched in India in August, the company had stopped short of revealing the technical details. Now though, the company had announced that the moto-scooter will be powered by a 154cc engine developing 11.4bhp.
The Aprilia SR150 borrows the 154cc single-cylinder engine from the Vespa. The engine delivers 11.4bhp at 7,000rpm and 11.5Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. The air-cooled three-valve engine relies on a carburettor for its fuelling, and is mated to a CVT transmission. The Aprilia SR150 rides on 14-inch 10-spoke wheels shod with 120/70 profile tubeless tyres. Upfront, it gets 220mm disc brake with Bybre calliper and a 240mm drum brake in the rear. The fuel tank can gulp down six litres of fuel.
Piaggio has started accepting booking for the Aprilia SR150 for a token of Rs 2,000. Deliveries are expected to commence in the next couple of weeks. The scooter will be priced at Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom) and will be available in two paint schemes – white and black.
