- To be priced at Rs 65,000
- Will be the most affordable Aprilia offering
- Was already spotted at dealerships
The Aprilia Storm 125 is all set to be officially launched in India tomorrow, 30 May. As we had reported earlier, the scooter will be priced at Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom, pan India), emerging as the most affordable offering from the Italian brand in the country. It was unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo and has been creating a lot of stir on the internet since then.
The Storm 125 is based on the already-existing SR 125 and shares most of the components and styling with the latter. However, the Storm 125 has its own character featuring smaller wheels which are shod with dual-purpose tyres from Vee Rubber. Moreover, it will come in three bold colour options adorned with brawny-looking graphics.
Powering the Aprilia Storm 125 is the same 125cc motor which does duty on the SR 125. This unit produces 9.5bhp of power and 8.2Nm of torque while it is mated to a CVT gearbox. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a single coil spring at the rear. In terms of braking, pictures suggest it is equipped with drum brakes at both ends and misses out on the front disc which is available on the SR 125. However, we expect front disc brake to be available as an option.
The Aprilia Storm 125 was already spotted at a few dealerships while bookings for the scooter have also commenced. In terms of competition, it will go up against the Honda Activa 125 and the TVS Ntorq 125.
