Piaggio unveiled its entire BS6 line-up at the Auto Expo 2020 in Delhi. However, the centre of attraction for the brand was the all-new Aprilia SXR 160 maxi scooter. We have already told you everything about it that we know so far in our video here. Now, it’s time to gawk at the pictures of this handsome-looking scooter striking a pose at the Auto Expo.
The quintessential maxi-scooter styling of the SXR has a healthy dose of sportiness owing to the fact that it takes styling inspiration from Aprilia’s sportbikes.
The big bike imitation is clearly evident on the front end which comprises of a three-pod LED headlamp which looks identical to that of the Aprilia RS660 supersport.
Occupying the rear end of the scooter is a wide and sleek LED tail lamp which blends seamlessly with its angular profile.
Nestled behind its tall windscreen is a large, LCD instrument cluster accompanied by tell-tale lights on top along with ‘Mode’ and ‘Set’ buttons at the bottom.
As opposed to its sporty aesthetics, the seat and floorboard of the SXR appear capacious indicating that it is inclined towards practicality.
Adding to its convenience quotient is the presence of a luggage hook and a split glove box with a USB charging port in the front apron.
It rides on 12-inch wheels with five-spoke alloys at both ends which are suspended by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear.
Braking duties are handled by a disc at the front and drum brake at the rear, assisted by a single-channel ABS.
Powering the SXR is the same 160cc, three-valve, fuel-injected motor which does duty on the SR 160. While it churns out 10.7bhp and 11.6Nm on the latter, it might be tuned differently for the former to suit its character.
Piaggio will open bookings for the Aprilia SXR 160 in August while the official launch will take place by the third quarter of 2020.
