-Based on the Aprilia RS 457
-Expected to be showcased at EICMA 2024 and IBW 2024
-Powered by a 457cc, parallel twin engine
The new Aprilia Tuono 457 has been officially teased in the run-up to its official unveiling. The Tuono 457 is, essentially, the street naked version of the brilliant Aprilia RS 457 supersport bike. The teaser shows few yet important details of the new Tuono 457.
To begin with, the new Aprilia Tuono 457 will have a new LED headlight. The unit consists of three LED headlights with a pair of LED DRLs shaped in the typical Aprilia Tuono style. Under the headlight, one can see aerodynamic winglets, similar in shape to what we’ve seen on the RS 457.
The side fairing of the RS 457 is replaced with what appears to be a semi-fairing, again in typical fashion as we’ve seen in the case of the RS 660 and the Tuono 660. The tail section, meanwhile, on the Tuono 457 appears to be the same as the RS 457, replete with a winged LED tail light.
The other difference will be seen in the riding position. The clip-on handlebars of the RS 457 have been replaced with a single-piece handlebar. The positioning of this handlebar is higher than the 457’s. Even the footpegs might be relatively forward set for a sporty yet comfortable riding position.
The Aprilia Tuono 457 will be powered by a 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. In the RS 457, this engine makes 46.9bhp and 43.5Nm. Aprilia may tune the engine for stronger low and mid-range to suit the street bike application of the Tuono 457. However, in our experience with the RS 457, we found this engine to be quite tractable in the city with enough punch on the highway.
The rest of the parts, like the twin-spar aluminium frame, the USD fork and the monoshock as well as the wheels, tyres and brakes should be the same as the RS 457.
In terms of equipment, the bike has a colour TFT display and it should get Bluetooth connectivity. The Tuono 457 is also likely to get the same ride modes, traction control and ABS as its supersport sibling.
Aprilia is most likely to debut the new Tuono 457 at EICMA 2024. The bike should be showcased at the India Bike Week (IBW) 2024 as well. Expect the Tuono 457 to be priced around Rs 3.90 lakh to Rs 4 lakh, ex-showroom mark.
