Aprilia India introduced the Tuono 660 in the country recently. The motorcycle was launched alongside its fully-faired sibling, the RS 660. So here we tell you all about the Tuono 660 in five points.
Pricing
Priced at Rs 13 lakh, the Aprilia Tuono 660 is the more affordable of the two siblings. In comparison, the RS 660 costs Rs 13.39 lakh. Nevertheless, it costs a considerable premium over its competition in India- the Kawasaki Z650 and Triumph Trident 660 that cost Rs 6.24 lakh and Rs 6.95 lakh each.
Styling
The Tuono 660 looks identical to the RS660 with the split LED headlamps fitted into the aggressive-looking front end. However, the Tuono 660 gets a half-fairing, and being a streetfighter comes with a raised, single-piece handlebar that offers the rider an upright position. The rear end, similar to the fully-faired version is sharp and features split seats.
Performance
Powering the Aprilia Tuono 660 is a 660cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor with a 270-degree firing order that replicates the RSV4’s iconic sound. This engine has been tweaked compared to the one on the R660 to suit the Tuono’s character. It gets a shorter final drive producing 95bhp of power as compared to the RS 660’s 100bhp unit. However, like the latter, the motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox with quickshifter.
Hardware
The hardware on both motorcycles is similar. They both get Kayaba-sourced 41mm upside-down forks at the front and an asymmetrically mounted monoshock at the rear. As for braking, the Tuono 660 comes with 320mm discs for the front a 220mm disc at the rear with Brembo calipers at both ends.
Features
The Tuono 660 comes with a six-axis IMU and hence a cruise control system, three levels of cornering ABS, a traction control system, wheelie control, engine brake control as well as five riding modes- Commute, Dynamic, Individual, Challenge, and Time Attack. It also features a TFT instrument cluster like the RS 660.
