- Aprilia Tuono 660 design patents leaked
- Gets a 660cc parallel-twin motor
- Could be launched in India in 2021
Aprilia’s Tuono 660 is inching closer to production, leaked design patents revealed.
The Tuono 660 was showcased alongside the RS660 at the 2019 EICMA as a concept motorcycle. And, the designers have made sure the production version looks the same apart from the lever guards that feature on the concept.
The streetfighter sports a semi-fairing which houses the same split-LED headlamp as the RS660. It also gets a raised single-piece handlebar with rear-set footpegs for a mildly aggressive riding posture. Furthermore, the belly pan is also extended finishing right behind the underbelly exhaust.
Powering the Tuono 660 will be a 660cc parallel-twin motor similar to the RS660. However, this motor has been retuned to produce 95bhp; lesser than the supersport’s 100bhp output. However, it is expected to share the same electronic aids like wheelie control, engine brake control, cornering ABS, traction control as well as five ride modes.
Aprilia is expected to unveil the Tuono 660 by the end of 2020 with deliveries commencing in the first quarter of 2021. As for India, we can expect to see the Tuono 660 and RS660 sometime later in 2021 priced at a premium considering the bikes will be brought via the CBU route.
