A couple of days after its pictures were leaked on the internet, Piaggio has officially unveiled the 2015 Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 at the ongoing EICMA Show in Milan, Italy. The litre-class naked motorcycle will be available in two versions – Tuono V4 1100 RR and Tuono V4 1100 Factory.
Cosmetic changes on the new Tuono V4 1100 are trivial and includes a revised semi-fairing, new headlamps and LED DRLs. Both the Tuono V4 1100s are built around the aluminium dual beam frame and is powered by the 1077cc four-pot engine, both of which have been borrowed from the RSV4 superbike. While the power figure on the new RSV4 RR, which was revealed earlier this week, has been bumped up to 201bhp, Aprilia has decided to restrict the Tuono V4 1100s to ‘just’ 175bhp and 120Nm of torque.
The APRC electronics package in the Tuono V4 1100 includes a traction control, wheelie control, launch control and electronic quickshift. Aprilia has remapped the traction control and other assists for the track, sport modes and the road riding modes, to offer better riding dynamics. The traction control in itself can be adjusted in eight different ways, through a joystick on the left handlebar.
While the Tuono V4 1100 RR is equipped with a 43mm Sachs fork and rear shock with adjustable compression, the Factory model gets upgraded Ohlins suspension and an Ohlins steering damper. Braking hardware is also different in the two models, as the RR version comes with stainless steel front discs, while the Factory gets flanged aluminium ones. Both models get a three-level Bosch 9MP ABS system.
The Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 RR is offered in two paint schemes - Grigio Portimao and Donington Blu, while the Factory version comes in a special Superpole paint job. Aprilia hasn’t revealed the prices of the Tuono V4 1100 as of yet. Deliveries for the US market are expected to commence in May, next year.
