Piaggio has issued a recall for the Aprilia Tuono V4 and Caponord 1200 motorcycles sold in the US. The recall covers 1,628 motorcycles to fix a glitch in the front brake master cylinder.
The recalled motorcycles are 2014, 2015 and 2016 models manufactured between June 18, 2013 and June 13, 2016. The defective front brake master cylinder could let air into brake lines thereby increasing the stopping distance of the affected motorcycles. Being a safety hazard, Piaggio has issued a voluntary recall for the motorcycles to replace the front brake master cylinder pushrod and boot assembly. Both the Aprilia Tuono V4 and Caponord 1200 come with 320mm dual front discs with Brembo callipers.
Piaggio has started notifying owners of the affected motorcycles in the US about the recall, and the replacement will be done at Aprilia service centres free of charge. We are awaiting Piaggio’s statement on whether the Tuono V4 and Caponord 1200 motorcycles sold in India are covered by the recall.
