If you thought the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory is one crazy motorcycle, then you ought to feast your eyes on the exquisite RSV4 X. Limited to only 10 units, the RSV4 X is a track-only motorcycle that has been derived by Aprilia Racing with components derived from its WSBK and MotoGP race bikes.
The ‘X’ in the RSV4 X stands for the completion of 10 years since the Italian bike maker introduced its flagship superbike, the RSV4. The RSV4 X features some unique equipment like the new ANN (Aprilia No Neutral) gearbox which has the neutral located below the first gear. As per Aprilia, this arrangement allows faster upshifting from first to second and prevents any up-shifting errors. The system has been lifted from Aprilia’s WSBK and MotoGP experience and is being offered on a production model for the very first time.
The RSV4 X’s motor has been derived from the RSV4 1100 Factory’s V4 motor which has been heavily reworked to produce 221.8bhp, an 8bhp gain over the Factory model. It also packs a full titanium Akrapovic exhaust system with a carbon canister, an upgraded air filter with high permeability (same used in the MotoGP) and a specifically-tuned ECU with dedicated track settings.
The Aprilia engineers have put in a great effort in shedding the weight of the motorcycle by an astonishing 12 kg, which now stands at 165kg dry. This has been achieved by extensive use of carbon fibre for the fairing and various components. There are also several billet aluminium finished parts including the clutch lever, front brake lever guard, engine sump guards, adjustable foot pegs and upper steering plate, which have further contributed in making the bike lighter. The RSV4 rides on Marchesini forged magnesium wheels shod with sticky Pirelli slick tyres. To control all that neck-braking performance, the RSV4 X comes with top-of-the-line Brembo GP-4 MS front calipers paired to a set of street brake rotors with T-Drive technology.
Aprilia has put a price tag of 39,900 Euros on each RSV4 X which converts to Rs 31.14 lakhs in India, before custom duties and taxes. The sale of these 10 units with be exclusively online beginning from the second half of April. Like any exclusive motorcycle, expect the RSV4 X to be sold out in less than 24 hours.
