- M9A is the name of the flagship scooter
- Will feature advanced driver-assistance systems, collision prevention and collision alert
- Can do 0-50kmph in six seconds, top speed of 90kmph
Artem Energy Future Limited, a bootstrapped EV start up based out of India has announced the M9 electric scooter. This two-wheeler is claimed to be the world’s safest electric scooter.
The company claims that its flagship scooter, the M9-A will feature advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). This system has collision prevention and collision alert. The scooter will have cameras and radars to allow 360-degree awareness upto 100m radius. The system uses various conditions and sends warning to the rider through a smart helmet, as well as through vibration feedback on the handlebars. There's emergency braking as well which can be automatically and safely activated using Artem’s proprietary “EDB” (Electro-Dynamic Braking) technology which reverses traction force for safer stops, while simultaneously being gentle on brake wear.
The company didn’t reveal much about the motor that will power this scooter but revealed several industry first statistics like 0-50kmph in six seconds, top speed of 90kmph and a riding range of 100kms per charge. The M9 scooter can be charged either by on-board fast charger or by swapping batteries.
There are a few EV companies that are currently developing e-scooters. But none of them are coming up with a product as radical as the Artem M9. While the company is yet to give the production timeline for the M9, but when it hits the market, expect it to be really expensive.
