Ather Energy has launched its most expensive electric scooter, the 450 Apex, in India at Rs. 1,89,000 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). It looks similar to the standard model on the design front but gets transparent body panels on the side which reveal the orange coloured frame on the inside. Then, Ather has also covered the belt drive on the left side for added convenience.
The 450 Apex is not only the most expensive but also the most powerful e-scooter from Ather. It gets a 7kW motor linked to a 3.7kWh battery. The setup offers 100kmph of top speed and a 157km certified range. The 450 Apex gets a 10kmph higher top speed compared to the standard model. Even the 0 - 40kmph acceleration time for the 450 Apex is lesser at 2.9 seconds compared to the 450X’s 3.3 seconds.
Ather has equipped the 450 Apex with six ride modes – Smart Eco, Eco, Ride, Sport, Warp, and Warp Plus. The latter is a new addition introduced with the 450 Apex. Then, Ather has also loaded the scooter with a bevvy of features like full LED illumination, a seven-inch touchscreen TFT with smartphone connectivity, dashboard auto-brightness, park assist, hill hold, auto indicator cut-off, coasting regenerative braking, and Magic Twist. Ather says that the Magic Twist is a more advanced version of the regenerative braking feature that allows the rider to come to a complete halt even with a 100 percent charge.
The new Ather electric scooter rides on telescopic front forks and a monoshock. Its brakes include a 200mm front disc and a 190mm rear disc, both mounted on 12-inch wheels. The Ather 450 Apex gets a 22-litre underseat storage and it weighs 111.6kg.
The Ather 450 Apex’s asking price is not inclusive of the subsidy. The scooter comes with a five-year or 60,000km battery warranty.
