Ather Energy recently launched its new flagship offering, the 450 Apex. It’s a special edition model of the 450X Gen 3 with a few updates which differentiate it from the standard model. To give us a first-hand experience of what these updates feel like on the track, Ather recently invited us to Meco Kartopia in Bengaluru. In case you haven’t yet read our first ride review of the 450 Apex, here’s a quick summary of the review along with its pictures.
The most conspicuous difference between the Apex and the 450X is the latter’s special Indium Blue paint scheme along with orange alloy wheels.
Further distinguishing the Apex visually is the presence of transparent side panels which expose the hybrid aluminium frame of the electric scooter.
As for the performance, the Apex is a step up from the standard 450 as it offers a top speed of 100kmph which is a 10kmph increment over the latter.
The aforementioned top speed can be achieved in Warp Plus mode, another addition in the Apex. The performance hike has been achieved through algorithm and software changes in the Ather drive controller (ADC).
For the Warp Plus mode, the e-scooter also incorporates a dedicated display theme which looks slightly fancier and more colourful than the rest of the riding modes.
The revisions in the ADC have also brought along other improvements like a quicker 0-40kmph sprint and a stronger roll-on acceleration between 40-80kmph of speed.
Moreover, Ather has overhauled the regenerative braking system for the Apex to make it work more substantially, especially in the city. Ather claims that this regen, which it calls Magic Twist, can take care of 75 per cent of your braking duties.
The Ather 450 Apex is priced at Rs 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom) which makes it around Rs. 30,000 more expensive than the 450X Gen 3 Pro (3.7kWh) with Pro Pack.
