The Ather 450 Apex is the fastest and most expensive electric scooter that the company has ever produced. Some of the features that set it apart from the rest of the 450-range of scooters include the new Warp+ mode for quicker acceleration, 100kmph top speed, bespoke colour, transparent body panels and more. The electric scooter is priced at Rs. 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it more expensive than every other scooter on this list. Following are your options around the same price ballpark, in both electric and ICE scooter sections.
Rs. 1.83 lakh to Rs. 1.85 lakh, ex-showroom, Mumbai
The Yamaha Aerox 155 is among the quickest sub-200cc ICE scooters on the market. The maxi-sport styling, refined and engaging 155cc, liquid-cooled engine, and performance, as well as the way it handles, make it an endearing scooter. The stiff ride quality is perhaps its biggest drawback, but there’s a way around this issue in the form of aftermarket shock absorbers. The icing on the cake is the quality levels and Yamaha’s sales and service support. It is worth taking a look at if you want a sporty, well-made, and entertaining scooter.
Rs. 1.43 lakh, ex-showroom, Mumbai
The other sporty maxi-scooter on this list is the SXR160. The Italian design, large dimensions, and the appeal of the Aprilia brand are some of its strong points. The scooter is powered by a 160.03cc, air-cooled engine that makes 10.94bhp and 12.13Nm. Some of the challenges with this scooter are Aprilia’s sparse service network, build quality in some places, stiff ride, and the price that's steep for what’s on offer.
Ola S1 Pro Gen 2
Rs. 1.47 lakh, ex-showroom, Mumbai
The Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 is based on the company’s new electric scooter platform which is said to offer significant improvements over the Gen 1 scooter, such as a telescopic fork, monoshock, and a flat floorboard. The S1 Pro Gen 2’s redesigned electric motor produces a peak power of 11kW and a claimed top speed of 120kmph. While the battery pack is the same as the Gen 1, software optimisation has resulted in a bump in the range which is 180km in Eco and 143km in Normal mode. On paper, the Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 has an advantage over the Ather 450 Apex in terms of range and top speed. However, the S1 Pro Gen 2 is yet to be tested by us to give out a definitive verdict about the e-scooter.
