- Ather 450X and 450 Plus prices reduced by Rs 14,500
- Effect of implementation of the new FAME II subsidy
- More electric two-wheelers are set to become cheaper
Following the increment in subsidy with the revisions in FAME II policy, several electric two-wheelers are set to become more affordable in India. One of the EV brands to benefit from this change is Bengaluru-based Ather Energy. The company has announced that its electric scooters, the 450X and 450 Plus, are now cheaper by Rs 14,500. The new ex-showroom Bengaluru prices of both models are as follows:
Ather 450X Plus: Rs 1,25,490
Ather 450X: Rs 1,44,500
Both the variants of the Ather 450 meet the criteria set by the government for them to be eligible to get the subsidy. As per the new FAME II directives, an electric two-wheeler needs to have a battery range of 80kms at least while the minimum top speed has to be 40kmph to be eligible. The subsidy amount has been hiked by as much as 50 per cent from the previous Rs 10,000 per kWh to Rs 15,000 per kWh. You can read more about the tweaked FAME II policy here.
The Ather 450X and 450 Plus are two of the most technologically advanced electric scooters produces indigenously in India. While it gets a host of modern features like full-LED lighting and a touchscreen display, it’s also quite practical with things like a large 22-litre boot space, reverse mode and fast charging facility. It can be charged up to 80 per cent in 3 hours 35 minutes.
