Ather Energy has announced the launch of the new 450X Gen 3 in the Indian market. The latest iteration of the Ather 450X packs a bigger battery, more Random Access Memory (RAM), and a wider rear tyre. All these updates come with a slightly higher price tag and here we list the top five highlights of the new Ather 450X Gen 3.
Bigger Battery
The biggest upgrade on the new Ather 450X Gen 3 is the new battery pack, which is 25 per cent larger than the second generation model. The electric scooter now uses a 3.7kWh battery pack that promises a longer range and better thermal management. In the Eco mode, the new Ather 450X Gen 3 can achieve an IDC range of 146km while the TrueRange stands at 105km on a single charge, which is an improvement of 85km over its predecessor.
Improved Hardware
Apart from the bigger battery pack, the new Ather 450X Gen 3 also gets a wider, 100/80-section rear tyre that is claimed to deliver a better grip. The tyres also get a revised tread pattern and that too is designed to offer better a grip in wet conditions. Another upgrade includes new rear-view mirrors that are claimed to be more reliable and offer a better view. The 450X Gen 3 also gets an all-new sidestep for the pillion riders who prefer to sit with both legs on one side of the scooter. This new sidestep is made of single-cast aluminium. Lastly, the Gen 3 model benefits from a 2GB of RAM instead of 1GB on the previous model and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Same Design
While the company improved the feature list, the styling remains unaltered. Thus, the Ather 450X Gen 3 continues to pack an apron-mounted headlight, sleek LED DRLs, a seven-inch touchscreen display, and 22-litre under-seat storage with LED lighting. The colour palette remains unchanged too, and the Ather 450X Gen 3 is available in three colours – Space Grey, White, and Mint Green. The hardware, which is retained from the previous model, includes telescopic front forks, rear monoshock, single disc brakes on both wheels, combined braking system, and belt-drive system.
Unaltered Power Output
The peak power output remains at 6.2kW or 8.7bhp while the riding modes include five levels – Eco, SmartEco, Ride, Sport, and Warp. The new ‘SmartEco Mode’ allows riders to cruise in ‘Ride’ mode speed whilst offering the range of ‘Eco’ mode.
Price
The updates come at a higher price tag, although it’s not very high than the second generation model. The new Ather 450X is available at Rs 1,55,657, which is just Rs 5,000 higher than its predecessor. The bookings for the new Ather 450X Gen 3 are open across the country.
