Ather recently launched the 450X Gen 3 in India. The model received some prominent updates and is now the flagship offering from Ather Energy. While we’ve already faired it against the Ola S1 Pro, it’s now time to see how the Ather 450X Gen 3 compares against the TVS iQube ST on paper.
Design
In its Gen 3 form, the Ather 450X has retained the looks from Gen 2. This means that the Ather 450X Gen 3 looks just as sharp and sporty as before. It features the same fascia with an LED headlight mounted on the apron. Meanwhile, the TVS iQube ST looks a bit more family-friendly rather than sporty. It too gets LED illumination all around and appears highly functional too. Unlike the Ather 450X’s sharp bodywork, the iQube ST follows a bit more boxy design.
Features
With its recent set of updates, the Ather 450X now gets a 2GB RAM and a 16 ROM. This tends to make the UI smoother. Apart from that, it features a touchscreen instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, five ride modes (smart eco, eco, ride, sport, and warp), navigation, reverse mode, and OTA updates. On the other hand, the TVS iQube ST packs a TFT display, Bluetooth connectivity, OTA updates, navigation, call/SMS alerts, geo-fencing, live location and ride modes.
Battery and Motor
Ather has updated the 450 Gen 3 with a larger 3.9kWh battery that’s mated to a 6.2kW motor. Ather claims that its e-scooter can now clock a range of 105km in Eco mode. On the other hand, the TVS iQube ST houses a 4.56kWh battery along with a 4.4kW motor. However, the iQube can clock 145km of range on one charge.
Hardware
The Ather 450X Gen 3 rides on conventional telescopic front forks and monoshock. It gets disc brakes at both ends along with CBS and regenerative braking. The Ather 450X gets 12-inch alloys. TVS has equipped the iQube ST with telescopic front forks and an adjustable rear shock. It gets a front disc and rear drum brake setup along with regenerative braking. The iQube too rides on 12-inch wheels.
Price
The Ather 450X Gen 3 retails at Rs 1,55,657 (ex-showroom Bengaluru, including FAME II subsidy). That said, TVS is yet to reveal the iQube ST’s asking price. For reference, the iQube S is priced at Rs 1,20,183 (on-road Bengaluru including FAME II subsidy). So, the ST will likely cost a few thousand rupees more than the S.
