- Likely to be based on the Gen 4 platform
- Will feature a special edition paint scheme
- Could benefit from more range and better performance
Bengaluru-based, electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy will complete 10 years this month and is likely to launch a special edition model of its flagship EV, the Ather 450X. However, it’s also set to bring the fourth generation of the 450X, which has already been listed on the brand’s website. So, the odds of the special edition model being based on the Gen 4 platform are high.
If so, then you can expect the Ather 450X Gen 4 to boast a unique paint scheme and more performance, too. Currently, the 450X with the 3.7kWh battery offers 105km of true range but the 450X Gen 4, which also gets the same battery, has been listed with 110km of true range. Even the total charging time for the two is the same – four hours and 30 minutes.
On the other hand, the 450X Special Edition is likely to carry over the same bodywork and hardware. So, we expect it to feature a sharp and sporty design like the current model, with a pointed fascia. Even the front telescopic forks and the rear monoshock are expected to remain unaltered along with the front and rear disc brakes.
However, the features list could be slightly altered as the 450X Gen 4 will borrow the new joy stick setup for its switchgear from the recently launched 450S. So, the special edition, too, will get the same.
As of now, Ather Energy has three models on sale – 450S, 450X (2.9kWh), and 450X (3.7kWh). The asking price for the Ather 450S is Rs. 1.30 lakh, whereas the 450X base trim and the top-spec model are priced at Rs. 1.38 lakh and Rs. 1.45 lakh (all ex-showroom, Bengaluru), respectively. We expect the Ather 450X Gen 4 and the Special Edition model to cost slightly more than the existing line-up.
