- Ather’s fast chargers now available across 80 cities in India
- Plans to put up over 2,500 fast chargers this year

One of the biggest hurdles today in the adoption of electric two-wheelers is the lack of charging infrastructure in India. The battery range anxiety deters a massive number of buyers from buying electric two-wheelers which are otherwise much cheaper to run than ICE vehicles. However, there are certain manufacturers that have taken it upon themselves to overcome this challenge by paying keen attention to widening the EV charging infrastructure of India. One such electric two-wheeler brand is Bangalore-based Ather Energy which recently completed installing over 1,000 fast charging stations, Ather Grids, across 80 cities in India.
Ather Energy has been one of the few brands focusing on expanding the charging infrastructure in India since its inception. The company also released IP for the charging connectors to all OEMs to facilitate the charging of electric vehicles from other brands as well. While the company has installed 60 per cent of these charging grids in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, it has also put them up at strategic locations to enable intercity rides like Pune-Mumbai, Siliguri-Darjeeling, Coimbatore-Ooty, and more. Before the end of 2023, Ather intends to install over 2,500 fast-charging grids across India.
Ather’s current product portfolio comprises Plus and X variants of the 450 Gen 3 electric scooter. The company recently updated the 450X by rolling new AtherStack 5.0 software update that has enabled many new features like new map options and hill hold functionality. Moreover, the colour palette of the e-scooter has also been refreshed with the introduction of five new shades. As for the prices, the 450X has been pegged at Rs 1,60,205 while the Plus variant is listed at Rs 1,37,195 (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
