- Completes installation of 580th fast charging grid
- Aims to have 1,400 charging points this financial year
While the adoption of electric vehicles has drastically sped up over the last few months, the lack of charging infrastructure still remains one of the main deterrents for potential buyers. However, select EV brands are actively working on addressing the range anxiety issue by rapidly expanding their charging network. Ather Energy is one such company which recently crossed a new milestone in terms of the number of charging stations installed.
The Bangalore-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer has announced that it installed its 580th public fast charging point called Ather Grid. All these charging points are sprawled over 56 cities across India. The company has strategically installed these chargers 60 per cent of which are present in tier-II and tier-III cities. Interestingly, the company aims to keep working on expanding its footprint by installing 820 more charging grids by the end of this financial year and taking the total count to 1,400.
Talking about Ather’s charging grids, all electric two-wheeler and four-wheeler owners can use these free of cost till the end of December 2022. Interestingly, Hero has made its first e-scooter, the Vida V1’s charging setup compatible with Ather fast charging grids. These chargers can be located by all Ather owners via the Ather Grid smartphone application and the charging speed is 1.5kms/min up to 80 per cent.
As for Ather’s product portfolio, the company has the X and Plus variants of its new 450X Gen 3 electric scooter model that was launched in July this year.
