- Ather likely to launch 450X with ABS
- Currently, all e-scooters have CBS
- Price may increase by Rs 12,000
Ather Energy is looking to equip some of its e-scooters with an anti-lock braking system(ABS) in the future. The company is checking the feasibility of the same.
This development was announced during its most affordable model launch - the Ather 450S. The company believes that including ABS will help the brand in terms of premium production positioning and braking performance. However, it is still trying to understand if it can get the pricing right. Including the ABS will increase the overall cost of the 450X by almost Rs 12,000.
All Ather scooters are equipped with a combi braking system (CBS). Even with this braking equipment, the Ather scooters are known for their excellent stopping power. But the Bengaluru-based company always believes in giving more to its customers and having an ABS variant could help the brand target more enthusiastic and informed buyers.
Currently, the company is selling three scooters - the 450S, 450X (2.9kWh) and the top-end 450X 3.7kWh. If Ather's plan materialises, there’s a high chance of seeing ABS on the 3.7kWh version.
