- Gets relatively larger proportions than the current 450
- Equipped with a large flat seat and pillion backrest
- Features a fully digital console
The upcoming Ather Rizta electric scooter has been spotted while what appears to be a TVC shoot. Unlike the past where test mules have been spotted, this time around there is no camouflage which gives one a good view of what the production scooter is expected to look like.
The Rizta’s bodywork appears much more boxy, functional and relatively less sporty than the Ather 450 series since it is oriented towards a slightly mature audience. Moreover, the overall dimensions seem quite large and the Rizta’s function over form approach is quite apparent. Its floorboard and the seat, for instance is long, spacious with enough space for two adults. This also translates to a big boot.
Then, there is a single-piece grab rail with a backrest. We think the latter is likely to be offered as an accessory for the Rizta EV. The seat cover on one of the scooters also seems to have a two-tone colour scheme to match the two-tone paint scheme.
The previous spy shots also revealed its horizontal LED bar-style headlight and tail light setup. Although the details are scarce at the moment, Ather has probaly equipped the Rizta with a colour TFT display as seen on the 450X. It should also feature smartphone connectivity.
As for the motor and battery, the specifications and other details have not been revealed.
The Rizta’s hardware comprises conventional telescopic front forks and a monoshock at the rear. However, unlike the 450X, the Rizta appears to have a front disc and rear drum brake setup. The brakes are fixed to 12-inch alloy wheels and there is a likelihood of there being a single-channel ABS setup.
We expect the Rizta to get a manual key-operated system just like the 450 range.
The official launch of the Ather Rizta electric scooter is slated for 6 April, at the Ather Community Day, in Bengaluru. Its asking price could be between Rs. 1.25 – 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Once launched, the Ather Rizta will rival the TVS iQube range.
