Ather Rizta Z vs Ola S1 Pro – Competition Check

Ather’s latest electric scooter, the Rizta Z has created quite some buzz in the electric two-wheeler market. However, there are already a few names that rival it including the Ola S1 Pro. So, we have pitted the two electric scooters against each other to see which one is better on paper.

Design

Although simple, both of these EVs look quite different in terms of design. The Ather Rizta Z has a more boxy bodywork with relatively less cuts and creases. It looks large and practical. On the other hand, the Ola S1 Pro gets a curvy bodywork with a slightly more youthful approach. However, looks are subjective and the designs for both EVs will certainly entice a very different set of buyers.

Features

Ather has offered all the bells and whistles with the Rizta Z. If you include the Pro Pack it comes with a bunch of features including ride modes – Smart, Eco and Zip – traction control, mobile charging, auto hold and reverse mode. These options can be toggled and controlled through its digital instrument console. It also packs smartphone connectivity for Google Maps, live traffic data and allows auto reply to calls and WhatsApp preview.

The Ola S1 Pro gets four ride modes (Eco, Normal, Sport, and Hyper), smartphone connectivity, ride moods, music, call and SMS notifications, WiFi connectivity, remote boot access, remote lock/unlock, proximity control, hill hold, three levels of regenerative braking, and more. It seems like an even match here between the Rizta and S1 Pro

Hardware

Both the electric scooters get similar hardware. They ride on telescopic front forks and a single rear shock and the braking is done by a single front disc and rear drum setup. However, the Ather scooter has more storage space than the Ola

Motor andBattery

Powering the Rizta Z is a 4.3kW motor and a 3.7kWh battery. It gets a 160km range and an 80kmph top speed. Meanwhile, the Ola S1 Pro packs a 11kW (peak power) motor and a 4kWh battery. It claims to offer 120kmph of top speed and 180km of maximum range. Although the real world numbers may be lower for the S1 Pro, it still gets a larger battery than the Ather scooter.

Price

Ather has priced the Rizta Z at Rs. 1.45 lakh and it goes up to Rs. 1.65 lakh if you opt for the Pro Pack. Meanwhile, the Ola S1 Pro comes at Rs. 1.30 lakh (all ex-showroom, Bengaluru). It's quite evident that while the two bikes offer on-par features and performance, there is a notable difference in their asking price. The Ola S1 Pro seems to be a better deal on paper.
