- Piaggio to unveil an Aprilia maxi scooter
- Teases it ahead of official debut at the Auto Expo
- Likely to be powered by a 160cc engine
Piaggio’s stall at the Auto Expo is all set to woo the viewers with an interesting offering in the form of a new Aprilia maxi scooter. The company has teased this upcoming product ahead of its official debut at the event.
The teaser image reveals a bold front apron with a tall windscreen, typical of a maxi scooter. It also gets compact and sleek-looking split headlamp with thin strip of LED DRLs. Moreover, the image also gives a hint of a pulled-back, easy-to-reach handlebar with wide rear view mirrors. Looking at the smooth flowing contours of the front apron, we believe it will boast of a swooping design with svelte and long body panels.
While there’s no information about the powertrain of the scooter, it will most likely be powered by a 160cc, single-cylinder motor which does duty on the new Aprilia SR 160. However, the engine could be tuned differently in order to suit its maxi scooter character. In terms of cycle part, expect it to ride on a 12-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels suspended by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Now, it remains to be seen if Aprilia keeps it bare basic in terms of features like the SR range or bestows it with modern gizmos.
Looking at Aprilia’s existing portfolio, we believe this upcoming offering will boast of a premium price tag which could be over Rs 1 lakh.
