Hero Electric has forayed into two new segments with their showcases at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The AE-47 is an all-new electric motorcycle from the Indian company and is powered by a powerful 4kW motor. Top speed is claimed to be 85kmph and 0-100kmph time stands at nine seconds. Supplying juice to the motors is a lightweight portable 3.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack. With a charging time of four hours, the AE-47 is capable of going 85 kilometres between two charges. However, in Eco mode, this range can be boosted to 160 kilometres.
Appearance wise, the AE-47 is a street naked with round LED headlamps upfront and a flat handle bar. The muscular tank adds to the sporty styling while the entire battery and motor setup are packed in where usually the engine sits. The short taillamps also give the AE-47 a sportier stance similar to the Yamaha MT-15.
In terms of hardware, the AE-47 comes with the combi-braking system and rear mono-shock suspension. The front disc measures 290mm while the rear has a diameter of 215mm. Other features include cruise control, digital instrument cluster, keyless access, mobile charger, walk assist and reverse feature. The mobile app also supports GPS, GPRS, tracking and geofencing.
