- Hero Electric showcases an electric three-wheeler
- Gets a self-balancing gyroscopic feature
- Production model could be launched by 2021
Hero Electric went big at the Auto Expo 2020 as it showcased multiple electric two-wheelers which will be a part of its future line-up. However, besides the new electric motorcycle and scooters, the one which caught our attention the most was a three-wheeled electric scooter code named AE-3.
Typical of modern electric vehicles, the AE-3 comes loaded with electronic gismos. However, one of the note-worthy features is the self-balancing gyroscopic stability function which is majorly aided by the combination of three wheels. The company says it intends to pitch the AE-3 as a dual-purpose electric three-wheeler suitable for riding on the road as well as off it.
The list of convenience and safety features also comprises of fully-digital instrument cluster, mobile charger, walk assist function, reverse assist, GPS, GPRS, real-time tracking, geofencing along with smartphone connectivity. Coming to the propulsion system, the AE-3 rides on a 250W motor which is powered by a 48V/3kWh lithium-ion battery. It is claimed to deliver a range of 100kms while the top speed is rated at 80kmph. The battery takes around five hours to get fully charged.
Hero Electric has displayed this electric three-wheeler as a concept in order to gauge the response of the viewers. Even if the company plans to launch its production model, it will only happen by 2021.
