- BS6 Suzuki Gixxer and Gixxer SF unveiled at the Auto Expo

Suzuki has unveiled the BS6-compliant versions of the Gixxer and the Gixxer SF at the ongoing 2020 Auto Expo in Delhi. The company will announce the prices of the motorcycles next month.
The Gixxer siblings have remained cosmetically unchanged as they had received their first major upgrade last year. The most important revision has been done to the engine which is now compliant with BS6 emission norms. Both bikes are powered by a 155cc, fuel-injected, air-cooled motor which now produces 13.4hbp at 8000rpm and 13.8Nm at 6000rpm. It’s worth noting that the power and torque have gone down by 1.2bhp and 0.2Nm, respectively, as compared to the BS4 fuel-injected version of the powerplant.
Both bikes retain the same cycle parts with 17-inch wheels which are suspended by telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are performed by disc brakes at both ends, assisted by a single-channel ABS. What’s changed is the kerb weight of the Gixxer twins owing to the added equipment for compliance with new emission norms. Now, the naked and faired versions weigh at 142kgs and 148kgs, respectively, which is a marginal increase of 2 kgs.
The new Suzuki Gixxer and Gixxer SF compete against the Honda CB Hornet 160R, Bajaj Pulsar NS 160, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and the Yamaha FZ V3.
