- Aprilia SR 160 BS6 showcased
- Slightly more powerful than the SR 150
- Gets a price hike of around Rs 18,000 over the BS4 model
Besides unveiling the all-new Aprilia SXR 160 at the ongoing Auto Expo 2020, Piaggio also showcased the new Aprilia SR 160 at the event. The scooter is an updated, BS6-compliant version of the SR 150.
The sport scooter remains identical to the outgoing model in terms of looks, except for the placement of the ‘SR 160’ decals on its front apron and side panels. For those wanting a sportier-looking SR, the company also showed the Race edition of the scooter. The most important update comes in the form of a larger 160cc, fuel-injected, three-valve motor which is now BS6 compliant. It churns out 10.7bhp at 7600rpm and 11.6Nm at 6000rpm which is a minor hike of 0.5bhp and 0.2Nm over its BS4 154cc derivative.
In terms of hardware, the scooter retains the same wheels, suspension and brakes. It rides on large 14-inch alloy wheels which are suspended by 30mm telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is delivered by a 220mm disc at the front and a 140mm drum at the rear, assisted by a single-channel ABS as standard. The list of features comprises of a semi-digital instrument cluster and conventional headlamp with an LED tail lamp.
Although the company stated that it will be launched by the second quarter this year, dealers have already received the stocks of the SR 160. We also know the price of the scooter which ranges from Rs 1.04 to Rs 1.14 lakhs (ex-showroom), depending on the variant. This is a substantial premium of around Rs 18,000 over its BS4 counterpart.
