Bajaj Auto has becomes the most valuable two-wheeler manufacturer in the world. The company is the first to cross a market capitalization of Rs 1 lakh crore globally. The stock price of Bajaj Auto closed at Rs 3,479 per share on NSE, making its market capitalisation Rs 1,00,670.76 crore (as on 1 January, 2021).
The Indian two-wheeler brand is present in over 70 countries around the world. The company expanded its global footprint with entry into Thailand and a proposed entry into Brazil. The company also ventured into electric two-wheeler space with the Chetak.
Back home, Bajaj Auto has announced a major investment of Rs 650 crore in a fourth plant to be built in Chakan, Maharashtra for a premium range of motorcycles and electric two-wheelers. This new plant, which is expected to commence production in 2023, will manufacture KTM, Husqvarna, and Triumph motorcycles. Regular readers would know that Bajaj Auto has also entered into a strategic alliance with Triumph Motorcycles to co-develop and manufacture a new range of Triumph products in India to serve the global markets.
