- New facility inaugurated in Akurdi, Pune
- Company plans to expand capacity to 5,00,000 units per annum
- Chetak electric scooter currently available in 30 cities
Chetak Technology Limited, a fully-owned subsidiary of Bajaj Auto, has announced the inauguration of its new electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Akurdi, Pune. The company will be investing nearly Rs 750 crore in this new manufacturing plant that is spread over half a million square feet.
Speaking about the inauguration of this new plant, Rajiv Bajaj, Chairman – Chetak Technology Ltd., said that the company has delivered on its commitment to commission this centre by June 2022. He further added that this facility is intended to power the Chetak’s ride back to the future.
Apart from inaugurating this new facility, the company added in its press statement that the new Chetak is available in 30 cities across India. The Pune-based two-wheeler maker has sold over 14,000 Chetak electric scooters while more than 16,000 bookings are currently in the pipeline. To cater to the increasing demand, the company aims to expand this plant’s capacity to 5,00,000 electric two-wheelers per annum.
