The KTM Duke 390 one of the most awaited motorcycles of 2013 might be launched in mid-march for the Indian market, a source said. However, we haven’t heard anything from the company about the launch, so there is a possibility that this news is a rumour. The motorcycle was first unveiled globally at the 2012 EICMA in Italy and since then has been a hot topic of contention among members of the Indian motorcycle community.
The motorcycle will be manufactured at Bajaj’s Chakan plant and will carry a very competitive price tag as most of the parts will be shared from it younger sibling, the Duke 200 which incidentally is also manufactured at the Chakan plant.
The Duke 390 is powered by 390cc single cylinder which develops peak power of 45bhp and 35Nm of torque. The liquid-cooled engine is mated to six- speed gearbox and also features an advanced fuel injection mechanism.
In terms of pricing, we are expecting the Duke 390 to be in the range of Rs 1.8 lakh and Rs 2 lakh and is likely to be available in two variants, ABS and non-ABS.
