- Total of 2.41 lakh two-wheelers sold
- Exports slump by 46 per cent
- To launch Chetak electric scooter in Europe soon
Bajaj has reported a 25 per cent decline in sales numbers for January 2023 wherein it sold 2.41 lakh two-wheelers. In comparison, the Pune-based manufacturer sold 3.23 lakh two-wheelers in January 2022.
Even when compared to Bajaj’s December 2022 sales, the company has registered a 2 per cent drop in numbers. Surprisingly though, it also witnessed a slump in exports- an area Bajaj has consistently performed better than other Indian two-wheeler manufacturers. It registered a sale of 1 lakh units last month; a massive 46 per cent drop from the 1.87 lakh units it sold in January 2022. That said, it is looking to introduce the Chetak electric scooter in Europe sometime next year.
Nonetheless, Bajaj’s domestic sales brought some respite. The manufacturer sold 1.40 lakh two-wheelers in India last month against the 1.35 lakh units sold in the same period last year.
