Pune-based two-wheeler manufacturer, Bajaj Auto Limited, has registered a three per cent rise in domestic sales figures in May 2014 as compared to the same period, last year. It managed to sell 3,13,020 two wheelers in the last month, compared to 3,04,780 units in May 2013.
The commercial vehicles of Bajaj fared better as the company sold 38,416 units in the last month, which is 11 per cent more than that of May 2013. Out of the total 3,51,436 vehicles produced in May 2014, Bajaj exported 1,56,179 units to its foreign markets, which is a massive 40 per cent more than it managed in the same period, last year.
Amid rumours of a new union strike brewing in the manufacturer’s Chakan plant, Bajaj has managed to show a growth in sales figures, thanks to the recently launched Discover 125. While motorcycles have been seeing consistent sales numbers, the sales of scooters has seen an unprecedented rise for the past few months. Bajaj is one of the few manufacturers who don’t have a scooter in its line-up, which seems to have affected its overall sales numbers.
Bajaj has a number bike of launches slated for this year, which includes a faired 150cc version of the Discover, the Pulsar SS400 and Pulsar SS200 among others. The latter two bikes have been spotted testing a few times and have created a quite-a-buzz. This expansion of the line-up will surely attract hordes of customers and help Bajaj bump up its sales numbers.
