- Partial production activities resumed at Chakan plant
- Bajaj Auto has started a single-shift
- Reported zero-unit sales in April 2020
Bajaj Auto has resumed partial operation at its Chakan plant near Pune, Maharashtra. The Chakan plant produces Bajaj, KTM and Husqvarna motorcycles that are sold in the local as well as the international markets. The operations at the plant were temporarily suspended due to a country-wide lockdown that was implemented to curb the growth of COVID-19.
While the number of cases is still rising, the government has allowed certain zones to resume partial operations.
Bajaj Auto reported its sales figures for April 2020, and the manufacturer recorded zero-unit sales in the domestic market. The company exported 32,009 units in April 2020 as against 1,60,393 two-wheelers in April last year. The automobile sales are not likely to gain momentum due to the lockdown extension, which is now scheduled to end on 17 May 2020.
In more updates, Bajaj Auto has removed select models from its website. These include the Avenger Street 220 and the Discover range among others.
