Bajaj has registered a 12 per cent drop in sales in November 2016. Sales dropped from 2.70 lakh units in November 2015 to 2.37 lakh units, though the company has managed to retain the third spot in the Indian two-wheeler industry owing to a drop in demand across all leading manufacturers.
Even the export numbers registered a 17 per cent drop. The fall in demand comes only a month after Bajaj recorded its highest sales numbers for this year. This drop for Bajaj as well as other two-wheelers seems to be a direct effect of demonetisation. Manufacturers have also been reporting a steep drop in dealership footfalls, sending their annual projections for this year for a toss.
However, this should just be a temporary setback and manufacturers are expecting numbers to get back to normal in the next few weeks. Bajaj recently announced plans to launch its second product in the V brand, the 125cc V12. This commuter bike will be positioned between the Discover 125 and the Pulsar 135. While this should help Bajaj generate volumes, the company will also attempt to lure touring enthusiasts with the new Dominar 400.
