Bajaj Auto sales for April 2014 remain constant with only a very minor drop in sales numbers. Though the company didn’t show an increase in sales figures, they sold 2,99,636 motorcycles in April this year. The manufacturer had sold 3,00,827 units in the corresponding period last year.
The overall sales report shows a four per cent decline majorly because of the 26 per cent fall in sales of commercial vehicles. The company overall sold 3,31,529 units in April in comparison to the 3,44,178 units sold in the same month in 2013. However, the exports maintained the sales numbers at a steady level with 1,50,714 units sold last month as against 1,30,329 units in the corresponding month last year. This shows a 16 per cent increase in sales overseas.
Despite the implementation of the excise duty cut, many companies have not been able to sustain the high sales numbers shown previously. May be the economic slowdown seems to have started taking a toll on these sales figures. Nevertheless, we think the numbers might shoot up within a couple of months on the onset of the festive season.
The Pune-based motorcycle manufacturer is preparing to launch new motorcycles for the Indian market this year. This widening of the range of motorcycles includes the Pulsar SS400 and the Pulsar CS400. Both these bikes were unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo. In addition to these, the Pulsar SS200, Pulsar NS180 and Pulsar NS150 might also be launched.
