Bajaj Auto registered a two per cent jump in its motorcycle sales in April. India's second largest motorcycle manufacturer sold 291,898 motorcycles in April 2016 as against 285,791 in the same month last year.
Disappointing sales of the Bajaj Discover 150F might soon lead to the model being discontinued. Bajaj sold just 13 units of the Discover 150F in the last month, as opposed to the 16,530 units of the next in line 150cc commuter – the V15. One of the reasons for the dismal performance of the Discover 150 can be attributed to cannibalism within the brand.
The Bajaj V15 is doing exactly what Bajaj expected from it. This unique looking motorcycle has met the target Bajaj was expecting and has contributed to the market share increase of 13 per cent. Bajaj has also ramped up their production to meet this demand. The smaller Discover 125 on the other hand, is continuing to rake in over 12,000 units every month with no signs of slowing down.
The next launch for Bajaj will be the CS400. However, the motorcycle will be aimed at select enthusiasts and not a mass-market motorcycle which will increase their sales figures.
