Bajaj Auto recorded a two per cent growth in August as compared to the same period, last year. The commercial vehicles division of Bajaj Auto has set a new benchmark by registering its highest ever monthly sales numbers, helping the company boost its overall growth to eight per cent.
Export numbers of Bajaj Auto also reached an all-time high as the company shipped off 1,75,127 units of two-wheelers and commercial vehicles to other global markets, witnessing a 21 per cent growth over August 2013. Though the two-wheeler numbers only saw a marginal growth, the company sold more than 93,000 units of the Discover, which is 16 per cent more than it managed in August 2013.
With the festive season just around the corner, Bajaj expects its overall sales to race past the 4,00,000 mark. While the sale of scooters has been seeing an enormous growth, the Pune-based manufacturer revealed that it doesn’t have any plans to re-enter the lucrative segment and that it will concentrate only on motorcycles and its export markets.
Last month, Bajaj launched two new versions of the Discover series, christened Discover 150S and Discover 150F. The company is also planning to bolster the Pulsar family with the addition of the fully faired Pulsar SS400 and the Pulsar SS200, though the company hasn’t confirmed a launch date for the same yet.
