Bajaj Auto has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Maharashtra to set up a manufacturing facility in Chakan, Maharashtra. The facility, which will be setup on a proposed investment of Rs 650 crore, is expected to commence production in 2023.
This facility will be used to manufacture KTM, Husqvarna, and Triumph motorcycles. Bajaj Auto will also utilise the facility to produce electric vehicles, starting with the Chetak. The Government of Maharashtra will facilitate Bajaj Auto in obtaining necessary permissions, registrations, approvals, clearances, fiscal incentives, etc. from the concerned departments of the State, as per the existing policies/rules and regulations.
The details about the upcoming Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle are scarce, although we could hear more updates in the coming months. Meanwhile, Triumph Motorcycles is preparing to introduce its budget-friendly triple-cylinder motorcycle, the Trident 660 in the Indian market. The bookings for the new Triumph product have already commenced.
