- Both variants equipped with single-channel ABS.
- Priced at Rs 1,02,426; an increase of Rs 6,720 over the non-ABS model.
Bajaj's cruiser motorcycles, the Avenger 220 Street and Avenger 220 Cruise are the latest in the list to have been updated with ABS. Both variants carry a price tag of Rs 1,02,426 (ex-showroom, Pune); an increase of Rs 6,720 over the non-ABS models.
The bikes get a single-channel ABS unit that aids braking to the front wheel only. However, the rear disc will also feature the ABS encoder ring that prevents the rear from lifting, which is not much of a concern in the Avenger's case. Apart from the inclusion of ABS, the bikes remain the same. The bikes are powered by a 220cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, carburetted motor that produces 19bhp and 17.5Nm of torque. It is mated to a five-speed gearbox. Although what sets them apart is the styling. While the Avenger 220 Cruise is retro-looking and gets oodles of chrome along with a sweptback handlebar, the 220 Street exudes a dark custom cruiser look thanks to its blacked-out components and flat handlebar.
The Avenger 220 Cruise ABS and Avenger 220 Street ABS will face direct competition from the Suzuki Intruder 150 which is priced at Rs 1.02 lakhs for the carburetted version and Rs 1.08 lakhs for the fuel-injected variant.
