- Bajaj Avenger Street 160 gets BS6 update
- Retains the same power at 14.8bhp with slightly more torque 13.7Nm
- Price has been increased by around Rs 12,000
After launching the BS6 models of the Pulsar range, Bajaj has officially introduced the more environment-friendly version of its cruiser offering, the Avenger Street 160. The motorcycle has been priced at Rs 93,677 (ex-showroom, Mumbai) which makes it roughly Rs 12,000 more expensive than the BS4 model.
What’s interesting is that unlike many other two-wheelers which have witnessed a drop in power following the BS6 update, the Avenger has retained the same power with a marginal hike in torque of 0.2Nm. Its 160cc, air-cooled motor now gets fuel-injection, as opposed to a carburetor in the outgoing model. Producing 14.8bhp at 8,500rpm and 13.7Nm at 7,000rpm, the powerplant continues to be mated with a five-speed gearbox.
Apart from these changes, the Bajaj Avenger Street 160 BS6 remains the same in terms of styling, features and cycle parts. With a long wheelbase and low-slung profile, the motorcycle boasts of a typical cruiser stance. Lending it a modern appeal are elements such as an oblong-shaped headlamp, stubby exhaust, petite rear grab rail and blacked-out treatment on most of its components. In terms of features, it gets LED DRLs and a semi-analogue instrument cluster.
The Bajaj Avenger Street 160 BS6 is available in two colour options including black and red. The sole competitor it has in the Indian market is the Suzuki Intruder which has also received BS6 update.
