Bajaj has launched the new Avenger Street 180 in India at Rs 83,475 (ex-showroom). Positioned below the 220cc Avenger Street and Cruise, the Avenger Street 180 is a replacement for the Avenger Street 150.
The Avenger 180 carries over the urban cruiser styling from the Street 220, complete with blacked out frame, wheels, fork bottles, exhaust and grab rail. It even gets the diagonal stripes running across the tank. The oblong headlamp gets an LED DRL at the bottom and a black visor at the top. It rides on 17-inch front and 15-inch rear alloy wheels with white rim tapes.
The chassis has remained unchanged; although at its heart is a new 180cc single-cylinder DTS-i engine, delivering 15.3bhp and 13.7Nm of torque. Although Bajaj already has a 180cc DTS-i engine powering the Pulsar 180, the one in the Avenger 180 seems to be a different unit with a lower power and torque output. The engine is mated to a five-speed transmission. The brake setup consists of a 260mm disc up front and a 130mm drum unit at the rear.
The Avenger 180 is available in two paint schemes – black and red. Even with the cosmetic upgrades and the bigger engine, the Avenger 180 is just Rs 3,000 pricier than the model it replaces. The Suzuki Intruder ABS is the Avenger 180’s closest competitor, although it is priced higher at Rs 99,996 (ex-showroom).
