Bajaj recently launched the replacement for its highest-selling cruiser, the Avenger 150 Street, christened as the Avenger Street 180. Although it continues to be based on the same platform, the Avenger Street 180 benefits from a bigger powertrain and a slew of cosmetic upgrades. The overall profile might look the same, but the new Avenger Street 180 features several new styling cues similar to the bigger Avenger Street 220.
The Avenger Street 180 gets an oblong design for the headlamp with LED DRLs at the bottom and a dark flyscreen.
The rubber bellows on the forks, flat handlebar and the blacked-out components give the Avenger Street 180 the look of an urban cruiser.
The instrument console has been carried over from its predecessor. It consists of a round chrome-rimmed analogue speedometer with a small digital display.
There is a secondary analogue clock positioned on the fuel tank. It integrates fuel gauge and the tell-tale signals.
Powering the Avenger Street 180 is a 180cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine delivering 15.3bhp and 13.7Nm of torque through a five-speed transmission.
The Avenger Street 180 gets 17-inch front and 15-inch rear alloy wheels, shod with tubeless tyres sourced from MRF.
The brake setup consists of 260mm front disc brake and a 130mm rear drum brake. It rides on telescopic front forks and dual spring rear suspension.
Although the suspension hardware is similar as before, the rear springs have 12 per cent more travel for a more comfortable ride.
The Avenger Street 180 is just Rs 3,000 pricier than the model it replaces. It is available in two paint schemes – black and red.
